Psocids (Booklice) are a common intermittent pest of laboratory animal facilities. Although, they are often considered harmless invaders they are a significant threat to the biosecurity of any animal facility. They are also an occupational health risk to animal care workers having also been associated with allergen sensitisation in humans. Early eradication of booklice on entry to rodent facilities is essential to minimise the risk of an unmanageable infestation.
